I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul

Invictus

BY WILLIAM ERNEST HENLEY
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
      For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day from Weezy and Friends!

Today to celebrate Weezy, Marisa and a friend went to the Lyric Opera in Chicago to see The Sound of Music.  It was really quite fantastic.  They had a good balance of giving both a nod to the movie and the traditional Opera, which was a nice production.  Being Weezy's first musical (other than Frozen of course), he was quite impressed!

Day 160: Beach Days

Brendan is living this year in Wilmington, NC for his job.  A fortunate side affect of this is that he lives 6 houses away from the beach.  As such, when Saturday proved to be a beautiful day, Brendan, Karl, Marisa and I decided to have a beach day!  So one cooler packed up with drinks, snack and beach towels and we were on our way.

P.S. I don't think that dinosaurs 'tan'.

Strawberry Picking in Wilmington!

This weekend, Weezy and I headed out to Wilmington, NC to visit Brendan and spend the weekend getting some SUNSHINE.  Brendan had noticed that a strawberry patch had just become ripe earlier in the week so on Friday we got to go STRAWBERRY PICKING!

Now, I don't believe that I've mentioned this before, but I LOVE strawberries.  As far as I'm concerned they're one of the most delicious things on earth.  Weezy however was not so sure as he had not had the chance to try them yet (likely due to the fact that I always eat them all).

First Approach:
Sneaking a bite!  Guess he couldn't wait until we got home... I picked the half-eaten one to bring home :)

I think he started to really like them.

On our way home we decided we should make strawberry rhubarb pie.  Just a few minor mess-ups and Marisa having to run to the store for some forgotten items and we had some fantastic pies.
If I do say so myself, they were some of the simplest/best pies I've ever had!
